Rock Club Meetings
Times and Locations
The Ark-La-Tex Gem & Mineral Society meets on the first Tuesday of every month at 6:30 PM for a social meet and refreshments. Then, at 7 PM, we sit down for the offical meeting and presentations.
Meetings are held at the Bossier Parish Historical Center (part of the Bossier Parish Library Main Branch), 2206 Beckett St., Bossier City, LA. During one month in both the spring and fall, our group assembles for dinner at a local restaurant or at a cookout site. Information about special meeting places can be found in the most current issues of the Rock Rattler and under the Upcoming Events section of the homepage.
Meeting Activities
At our monthly meetings, we introduce new members, plan field trips, hear presentations, discuss official club issues, share news and information, and make decisions on mineral related external projects like science fair judging, BPCC classes, and the annual Rock Show. We also draw for door prizes and provide refreshments.
Who Attends
In addition to our members, other people often attend meetings. Dealers show mineral specimens and give presentations. Those rockhounds who happen to be in town on the first Tuesday of each month occasionally come to speak about their recent finds and travels. Also, those who have a proposal for a club activity or inter-club collaboration come to explain their ideas. Any non-member who is interested in joining our society is welcome to attend the meetings.
